What sets small businesses apart from larger corporations? Or more importantly, what sets Logan apart from other small businesses? For starters, we are a family-owned and operated business, and that is a detail we take great pride in. Whether you are an employee here at Logan, or a customer, we strive to make everyone feel like family. Being family-owned and operated is one thing, but being able to see the fun, family spirit is something totally different.
In honor of Small Business Saturday, eight employees here at Logan answered some questions regarding the fun, family spirit that Logan takes pride in. They identified ways in which that aspect is seen, along with ways Logan Services is different from other companies.
In what ways is the “fun, family spirit” motto seen at Logan?
Sandy: “An attribute of “family” can be seen daily at LSI through encouraging teamwork, collaboration and a sense of togetherness. We also promote open, transparent and honest communication and we encourage everyone to share their feedback so everyone’s voices are heard and respected.”
Jason: “People genuinely care about each other at Logan, not just on a professional level but on a personal level as well. It’s not always work 24/7 — we like to have fun through different family events and work events as well to show appreciation to all our employees and their families.”
Jordan: “Strong participation in our weekly company events is something I always try to embrace! Whether it be dressing up for Halloween, incentive contests that may lead to me embarrassing myself, or whatever I can do to help build a positive culture and keep the workplace fun in our fast-paced environment is a focus of mine.
Ashley: “The “fun, family spirit” motto at Logan is evident in our day-to-day interactions. From team-building activities to celebrating milestones, we strive to create a work environment that mirrors the warmth and camaraderie of a family. This includes fostering open communication, supporting each other through challenges, and promoting a positive work-life balance.”
Erin: “There are so many ways that I’ve experienced a ‘family atmosphere’ working at Logan Services. I have so much respect and appreciation for my leaders and coworkers. I feel like there is a real comrade with each other. While we are highly focused on our goals and growing our skills and business, we laugh and have fun with each other as well.”
Jessica: “There is always something fun happening around the offices. We have contests, employee events, family & employee events, community volunteering projects. We also like to pull pranks or take the time to laugh and joke with each other every day.”
Christine: “Logan will do fun, family activities/events that I can’t imagine another company doing and we take family very seriously around here. It’s incorporated into events outside the company, and we all love talking about our loved ones at home with one another. In short, my family is Logan’s family.”
Nick: “We are constantly holding events and doing activities that just get us away from the day-to-day work. I started an NFL Pick ‘Em challenge for anyone who wanted to join! It just allows us to reflect that your life doesn’t have to be all work.”
On top of all our employees feeling like family, Logan is a little different from other businesses because we have family members working closely together daily. Ashley, the company’s president, works alongside her three other siblings – Sandy, Jason, and Jordan. Working with your siblings on a daily basis, is definitely a new dynamic, but these 4 had nothing but praise and gratitude for each other and this experience.
How does it feel to work with your siblings on a daily basis?
Ashley: “Working with my siblings on a daily basis has been an interesting and rewarding experience. While it does come with its unique challenges, such as navigating the balance between personal and professional relationships, it has allowed us to develop a deeper understanding of each other’s strengths and weaknesses.”
Sandy: “I feel privileged to be able to work with my siblings every day. Having my siblings as a part of my team is one of the best teams to be a part of. You know what makes each other tick and to have their encouragement, support, and honest feedback on a daily basis is priceless and helps me to be a better version of myself every day.”
Jason: “It has its ups and downs and some bumps in the road, but it is nice to be able to see them and interact with them daily.”
Jordan: “It is definitely a different dynamic shifting from some short corporate stints into the family business, but one that I definitely enjoy more! You will always have your ups & downs working with other team members whether they are your family members or not, but we have always been able to keep our business disagreements professional and maintain great relationships.”
